L. Kent Wolgamott: Banksy Hits Lincoln at Kiechel Fine Art
Banksy has hit Lincoln.
No, the British street artist hasn’t “bombed” a downtown building with a stenciled images of a rioter throwing flowers. But there’s a handful of his prints at Kiechel Fine Art.
Banksy, intentionally anonymous, has been tagging walls with graffiti-tinged satirical street art and subversive epigrams since the 1990s, becoming the world’s most famous, if unknown street artist.
Banksy also creates “indoor art,” for lack of a better term. Some of that is now on view at a museum in Amsterdam, the city where gallerist Buck Kiechel picked up the prints during a business trip this summer.
